Postgraduate workshops

We begin our programme of Postgraduate workshops in Week 1 with further Research Skills Toolkits sessions. In addition to last term’s subject areas, we have added MPLS and Oriental Studies.

Research Skills Toolkit  (Daily workshops 18th – 21st January) Week 1

2 hour workshops to introduce key software and online tools for your research, hone your searching and information skills and introduce you to subject specialists. Topics on offer include: Finding articles, papers, conferences and theses; Keeping up to date and current awareness; Using Endnote to manage your references; Manipulating images using Gimp; Managing your thesis with word; Analyzising data with Excel pivot tables; Podcasting with Audacity; Plagiarism and how to avoid it; Your thesis, copyright and ORA; Finding highly cited journals and measuring research impact.

All sessions will be at IT Services, 13 Banbury Road.

Dates are as follows. Please pick one session from your subject area:

Humanities:  Wednesday 20th January 14.00 – 16.00  >Book a place

Medical Sciences:  Wednesday 20th January 10.00 – 12.00; Thursday  21st January 10.00 – 12.00  >Book a place

MPLS:  Tuesday 19th January 10.00 – 12.00; Thursday 21st January 14.00 – 16.00  > Book a place

Oriental Studies:  Monday 18th January 14.00 – 16.00  >Book a place

Social Sciences:  Tuesday 19th January 14.00 – 16.00  >Book a place
