Modern Languages Debating – Russian, Week 4

The next of the modern languages trial debates (Russian) will be taking place in the Austin Gill Room at Magdalen College on Thursday, 12th February. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m., with a briefing for judges at 5:30.

If you would like to take part in this debate, please contact Walker Thompson (walker.thompson@magd.ox.ac.uk) by Tuesday, 10th February at the latest. Native speakers are to attend this session, preferably as judges. If you would like to debate in Russian but will be unable to make this session, please still get in touch with an expression of interest as this will help with future planning.

The motions for the debate are given below. While advance preparation is by no means required, you may find it helpful to do some research beforehand, as you will need to be ready to argue either side.

1. Крым должен быть частью России.
2. Расширение НАТО угрожает миру в Европе больше, чем внешняя политика Российской Федерации.

Spectators are also warmly invited to attend, and do not have to register in advance.
