We had over 80 applicants for Arabic Basic on our OPAL programme this year! Although it is unfortunate that we can’t offer everyone places, it’s fantastic to see so many people interested in learning the language!
In honour of all our Arabic students, we decided on an Arabic film for this term’s Film Night. It will take place on Monday of Week 5 (Monday 10th November) at 5.30pm in the Roman Bath on the ground floor of the Language Centre.
We’ve heard excellent things about the film, which looks at the story of two Palestinian lovers from Jerusalem and Ramallah who are separated by a checkpoint and have to arrange clandestine meetings. You can see more details about it on the IMDB page here.
We’ve purposefully scheduled it for a night of the week when we don’t have any Arabic classes running, so we hope that many students studying Arabic choose to come along and use it to brush up their skills. Don’t worry, we won’t expect you to be fluent, so there’ll be English subtitles.
Hope to see lots of you there!
